For our final release of 2023, we’re pleased to present the newest work from Boston based producer and close friend of The Rust, Maxfield – a 4-track uptempo EP titled Boondoggle. This release continues his testament to versatility, blending acoustic instrumentation with mechanical sound design – exemplifying the depth of his understanding of the craft through extraordinary musicality and creative mind.
Maxfield's repertoire covers a wide range of grooves and emotional landscapes, and a formal release from the high-energy end of the spectrum is long overdue. Boondoggle draws inspiration not only from dance floor energy, but also from the world of animals and nature – the mind-crushing awesomeness of which is enough to send even the strongest of us into a verklempt tizzy.

Maxfield - Just Beyond The Horizon

After the release of Just Beneath The Surface via Colony Productions, Maxfield caps off his ambitious two-part EP with a riveting triumvirate of tracks in Just Beyond The Horizon.
Parsing through splayed out drum lines, shredded low end, and precision harmonies, this handful of tunes channels a visceral weight across the frequency spectrum. Bold, brazen cuts of rock solid low end belay around sharp downbeats and buoyant cross rhythms, laying down the bedrock for juiced up leads and a potpourri of stereophonic glitches and artifacts.
It's more than just a capstone to a poignant project; it's the natural evolution of Maxfield's audio hemisphere in real time, revealing the cumulative skill sets and musical wisdom behind the Maxfield experience.
Maxfield & WESSANDERS - Tacos Al Pastor
Jake Maxfield aka Maxfield and Kai Felsman aka Wessanders from Boston, Massachusetts team up on Tacos Al Pastor, an exhilarating two-track EP. The project possesses fundamentally unorthodox songwriting, with two cuts - “Tacos” and “In Tulum” - that cut unique paths and leave room for sonic surprises.
Both producers flex impressive sound design many times over, offering weighty, gravitational basslines that are juxtaposed with a spread of delicate glitches. Both of the tracks are sewn together with fine-tuned percussion that is progressive but accessible.
Tacos Al Pastor comes on the heels of Maxfield's stellar Sonorous EP, and for Wessanders it follows his crunchy Christmas Miracle Mini Mix. We hope you enjoy this listen and stay chooned for more.
