The Rust Music Presents: NEBULA ft. Rumpistol (Album Release) w/ Entangled Mind & Malakai at The Sultan Room — Brooklyn, NY
Join us May 24th at The Sultan Room to celebrate the release of Rumpistol’s new album, Nebula, with sets from Rumpistol, Entangled Mind and Malakai. The album will be available to purchase on vinyl and we’ll have some other surprises to share with you at the show - we can’t wait to see you!
Lineup:
Rumpistol (Album Release)
Entangled Mind (Downtempo Set)
Malakai
About Nebula:
On the list of recurrent favorites from The Rust Music, Rumpistol has kept us enamored with his compositions for the entirety of our label’s active years. A musician and producer of remarkable vision and professionalism, each successive Rumpistol release has gradually unveiled more and more of the story hidden in sound, playing out more like a musical drama than just a catalog. Consequently, Nebula is much more than just an album:
The LP is inspired along two mingled fronts, being both a testament and a love letter to the waning awe that the Space Race (and its implications) imbued amongst the many peoples of the world, while also being designed with an implicit focus on the results on stage. Nebula’s arrangements work in tandem with these ideas, combining jazz, neoclassical motifs, and modern electronic music, utilizing an array of both vintage and contemporary tones and compositional approaches to channel the all-encompassing wonder of the cosmos. Its pacing is entirely unlike the more dance-oriented offerings in the Rumpistol discography, replacing frenetic energy with the draw of tempered, introspective listening. Explicitly recorded and designed alongside a cast of instrumentalists and visual designers, the record is the next logical step in Rumpistol’s recent grounding in his consistent live ensemble, breaking out of the traditional molds that tend to keep producers narrowed to a single lane. Naturally, for The Rust’s upcoming 95th release, we can think of no more perfect a match than the Nebula LP.

CoSM: Winter Solstice Celestial Celebration ft. parkbreezy, pheel., and Malakai w/ Zone Drums @ Chapel of Sacred Mirrors - Wappingers Fall, NY
Equinox and Solstice celebrations at CoSM honor polarities and the alignment of the earth with the sun, crests and troughs in the wave of time -- the longest and shortest days and nights of the year and the two days of balance and equivalence. When we notice the passing of the days, the months, the years, we contemplate impermanence, raising our awareness to the preciousness of life in the here and now.
At CoSM, Celestial Celebrations begin with spoken wisdom on a worthy topic. After the talk and discussion, the audience breaks. Then, look forward to some of the best electronic music, down tempo music, ecstatic dance, a fire circle, and fire spinning. Alex and Allyson live paint along with a showcase of visionary artists. Acrobats, belly dancers, laser light shows, taro readers, palmists, face painters, group sand mandalas have all been part of the rich tapestry, the transformative tableau of uplifting offerings at CoSM Celestial Celebrations.

About Papadosio
Deftly navigating the confluence of prog rock, livetronica, jazz, & jam, Papadosio’s appeal as a crossover act has amassed a rabid fan base across North America. Thanks to a steady stream of innovative albums, they’ve seen a decade and a half of consistent touring with hundreds of live recordings at the fingertips of every follower. Their allure’s led to co-presenting massive events such as Resonance, Secret Dreams, Summer SEEquence, and Subterranea Festival, plus headline plays at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
From their humble Midwest origins, Papadosio’s grassroots operation has grown to overflowing clubs and theaters nationwide, cementing their reputation as a must-see act. Now based in Asheville, NC, the dynamic five-piece features rhythm expert Mike Healy on drums, low end luminary Rob McConnell on bass, multi-instrumentalist brothers Sam & Billy Brouse on keyboard/vocals, and sage producer Anthony Thogmartin on guitar/vocals.
The band remains doggedly devoted to writing new music and pushing technological boundaries in their downtime, expanding the size and scope of their existing catalog live on stage and in the moment. Complex harmonies and challenging rhythms are the lifeblood of each composition, while a stunning visual show synchronized with the music enhances the immersive live experience.
Papadosio offers one-of-a-kind experiences to each attendee, with more than 150 shows per year over the past decade. In the band’s 16-year history, no one has heard a song—let alone a set—played the same way twice.

The Rust Music Presents: Lone Drum x Pheel w/ Malakai (DJ), Charles Nimbus, & Squalpat – Brooklyn, NY
Venue: The Meadows BK – 17 Meadow St, Brooklyn, NY 11206
MEET THE ARTISTS
LONE DRUM
Known for sharp turntablism in concert with rambunctious DJ sets running the distance of all things heavy, the UK's Lone Drum leaves a choice impact both alone and together alongside the rest of the KLO and Slug Wife casts. Toting an effective, truncated discography and a near-endless selection of tracks from his immediate contemporaries, Lone Drum has become synonymous with audacious Neuro grooves and tempered vinyl cuts, combining headnod fundamentals with an otherwise roaring package of mean-mugging bass lines.
PHEEL.
A prolific New York-raised, Denver-based producer/DJ and co-founder of the infamous all:Lo record label, pheel. injects familiar rhythms and boom-bap percussions into his specific blend of boisterous head-nod music. His command over choice low-end in concert with pocketed grooves and hazy melodies has earned him widespread appeal, with his growing catalog of original and collaborative music becoming mainstays both in the booth of discerning clubs and in the headphones of discerning fans
MALAKAI
Channeling a fusion of contemporary songwriting, smooth synthesis, and outstanding style, MALAKAI stands apart from the pack as a stalwart producer squarely in his own lane. He's gradually fleshed out a catalog of EP's and lone tracks that represent the breadth of his musical reach, touching on the pulse of glitch-hop, trip-hop, IDM, and more. When given the center stage, MALAKAI has earned a venerable reputation for his command and balance over narrative and dance floor sentiments.
CHARLES NIMBUS
Charles Nimbus Combining a well-rounded understanding of digital synthesis and a head-above-the-clouds creativity, Charles Nimbus consistently delights fans with a barrage of energetic and highly-engaging releases. Currently based out of Philadelphia, he continues to push the envelope for impact, from his distinct takes on ethereal drum and bass, to glitch-laden sound system crushers. No matter the flavor of the moment, Charles Nimbus possesses an arsenal of tunes fit to invigorate the evening affair on the drop of a dime.
SQUALPAT
Likely to be found loitering on the stoops and in the bodegas of Brooklyn, Squalpat possesses a lifetime of passion and the study of music fundamentals. Coupling soul, hip-hop, and jazz compositions with eclectic textures and full-spectrum sound design, Squalpat’s expansive use of Ableton Live results in performances running the gambit of sonic splendor. Channeling smooth grooves of many hues, there’s few dance floor territories he won’t eventually meander to.
