About RUST100
At the height of 2017, The Rust Music took on its second, present life as a music label, publication, and event promotion company. With little more than gumption and a vision, nearly 9 years of dedication turned into the extraordinary honor of hosting 99 EPs and LPs from a global variety of producers, musicians, and creatives. Now, just shy of our 9 year anniversary, we're ecstatic to unveil our 100th label release: RUST100, compiled in celebration of this milestone.
At 45 tracks, this compilation represents a plurality of our close friends, family, associates, and contemporaries that have thrown their weight in with our operation at some point through the last decade. Stretching from downtempo and trip-hop motifs to modern bass music, garage, and beyond, every composition feels like another cornerstone in the foundation of The Rust’s overall palette. The cast of characters we had the privilege to tap for this compilation is nothing short of a dream team, featuring the likes of Chalky and Seppa, Primate, Easyjack, Zonra, parkbreezy, and another 40 or so members of our extended universe of sound.
Whether you're just tuning into The Rust Music for the first time, or you've been with us since our nascent days on Brooklyn rooftops, RUST100 is the next definitive source for our collective grooves and hues in electronic music, and we can't wait for you to dive in.

All music was composed and produced by the credited artist(s) unless otherwise noted.
Mastering by Adam Ovoid (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 13, 18, 21, 24, 28, 31), Joshua Kipersztok (34, 43), Malakai Linden (17), & Sandy Finlayson (8, 23, 45). All other tracks were self mastered or organized by the artist.
Ovoid - Enigma
Ovoid has consistently redefined his approach to composition and production with every subsequent release, and that trend holds fast across the Enigma EP.
With precision finesse and execution, he fleshes out a vision of lush, immersive music. The pace is gradual from track to track, and the full spectrum of tones and attitudes take their time unwinding into one another. His textural approach to synthesis gives each tune a unique signature, and every song feels like the next chapter in a vibrant novella. His use of harmony furthers that vibrancy, showcasing the compositional acumen that comes hand in hand with Ovoid's production insight and sound design capabilities.
The natural instrumentation across the record channels moods of antiquity and intrigue, and reinforce the EP's crystal clear engineering with a powerful emotional depth. Given the immediate impact and rush that comes from tuning into the Enigma EP, there's no question that it stands to substantially reinforce the quality of Ovoid's frugal and meticulous catalog.
The Rust Music - Oxidized Vol. 1 [VA]
In late 2015 I started building weekly playlists as a platform for me to share some of my favorite tunes that I found rummaging through SoundCloud. I enjoyed writing about tracks as I listened to them, and I realized that there's just such an incredible breadth of music being released every single day. Why not combine the two? It's overwhelming, and the sad truth is that much of it might not ever get the admiration it deserves.
This is why I created The Rust - I wanted to spread the music to the masses, and share the music that inspires me with people who would appreciate and vibe with it. That's what I've finally gotten the chance to do with Oxidized - Volume One.
This compilation is a collection of 10 tracks from 11 astonishingly talented musicians, all of which I'm happy to call friends. This project has been in the works for a long time, and I'm elated to finally share each of these spectacular works of art with you.
Normally when I post things on The Rust, I give a lengthy description and my detailed opinions on the piece. However, this time i'm sharing music with you, not words - I think I'll let it speak for itself.
Thanks for staying chooned. It's because of all of you that I do this...
All proceeds of the compilation will be donated to ACLU Worldwide
