About Kintsugi
Portland, Oregon based producer Tanner Irwin aka Soup Lips joins The Rust Music family with his first official catalog release on the label, a 2-tracker titled Kintsugi. You may already be familiar with his work through a collaboration with Darklord Gob on our recent compilation release, RUST100, but Irwin has been hard at work for the better part of the last decade honing in his unique sound, lush with psychedelia and a storytelling ability that can often evade even the most seasoned musicians.
With Kintsugi, Irwin takes inspiration from its namesake, the centuries-old Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery, using lacquer mixed with powdered gold. A philosophy that can extent to all aspects of life, Irwin prefers to think of Kintsugi as the practice of viewing brokenness not as a calamity, but as an opportunity to put pieces back together and create something even more beautiful and harmonious than before, in art, in music, and even interpersonally.
“Music has been one of my greatest medicines throughout my life. I believe it is a balm for the soul. I keep making music because of its power to inspire catharsis and creativity, and it’s power to bring people together, much like the gold tinted lacquer used in traditional kintsugi, binding between once shattered pieces. But maybe most importantly, it's fun!”

About Helix
Ilya Goldberg has been a stoic mainstay in American electronic music for the better part of 15 years, with a storied career as the right hand of Emancipator’s live act and studio collaborator, and through his concentrated solo project, Lapa. At first familiar glance, his individual catalog has matured into a distinct attitude, taking cues from his instrumentally-driven Spirit Vessel and Meeting of The Waters LPs while developing a modern, electrified style. Enlisting the help of contemporary instrumentalist Cedar Miller, a frequent collaborator with Ilya and several of their other musical peers, this latest work elevates Lapa’s discography to new heights. Finding its place as the 101st release in The Rust Music catalog we’re proud to present the 11-track album, Helix.
Familiarity beckons you through the doorway of Helix, with soft tones and the instrument-forward stylings of Lapa’s traditional sound easing the way into the rest of the album. Together with this latest collection, Ilya and Cedar have crystalized a further refined evolution on the foundational sound of Lapa’s previous works, bringing emotionally transcendent melodic and textural elements into the forefront of the music. Lush chord swells, gentle arpeggios, and delicate harmonics take center stage, elaborated through ranging tempos touching on trip-hop, downtempo, and breakbeat rhythms. From Rune, to Mirocycle, to Essence, there is compositional substance for a multitude of tastes throughout the entire runtime of the record. Whether you're just tuning in for the first time, or you've been an active fan since the nascent Emancipator days, Helix is guaranteed to take the next top spot in your personal collection.

Rumpsitol - Nebula Remixes
Listen on: Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music, more…
About the remixes
We’re proud to unveil two more remixes from Rumpistol’s award winning 2025 album, Nebula - this time, by Faek & Lapa, alongside the reworks previously released from 57º North, Foxtail, AYO & ISAN.
Ascension (Faek Remix)
First up, the legendary Mike Wallis, of Colony Productions, K.L.O, Crunch & more, returns with his drum & bass project, Faek, bringing the Nebula album opener into new light with a high octane and to the point rework of Ascension. Stripped down to its elements and rebuilt from scratch, Faek gives a masterclass in subtle evolutions and juxtaposition of atmosphere and purpose.
Air Born Again (Lapa Remix)
In contrast, Lapa brings a different flavor to the table with lush beds of harmony setting the foundation for an evolution on the album's closer, Air Born Again. A veteran violinist and producer in his own right, Lapa's unique style shines thru in the intricate interplay between melody and harmony and blending of electronics and traditional instruments to take the listener into his own little sonic ecosystem.
Above The Horizon (57° North Remix)
With their rich soundscapes, quirky melodies and epic vibe, 57° North is a brand new project consisting of Johannes Hedberg from the legendary Swedish ambient duo Carbon Based Lifeforms and Tore Kofod aka Erot. They met for the first time at the airport in Budapest, both on their way to Ozora Festival. They subsequently agreed to do a track together and 57° North was born. This spectacular remix of Above The Horizon is their first official release.
Pale Blue Dot (Foxtail Remix)
Utah-based artist Foxtail pays tribute to Carl Sagan and humanity’s curiosity, humility, and search for peace beyond Earth with his beautiful remix inspired by the Voyager Golden Record. Created over a year with deep care and respect, Foxtail’s remix of Pale Blue Dot reflects his reverence for one of humanity’s most enduring legacies - an artifact destined to outlast our planet itself.
Tralfamadore (AYO Remix)
Blending deep textures and emotional depth, the Danish artist AYO takes us on an 8-minute ambient journey to Tralfamdore. The track takes its name from Kurt Vonnegut’s fictional planet and is released on Vonnegut’s birthday, Nov 11th — a fitting cosmic tribute to the late, great author.
Cosmic Waltz (ISAN ‘Voyager I’ Remix)
If you have a copy of Nebula on vinyl, you’ll recognize the bonus track Cosmic Waltz. Dedicated to Voyager I, this minimal, yet elegant reinterpretation by the British IDM pioneers ISAN stirs a similar feeling of curiosity and hope that inspired a mission to launch humanities time-capsule into deep space, where it continues to push on all these decades later and a beacon of civilization in far away places.
Robin Saville and Antony Ryan celebrate their 30th anniversary of making music together as ISAN this year in 2026.
Original compositions and production by Jens Berents Christiansen aka Rumpistol.
Remixing, edits & additional production by Mike Wallis aka Faek (1), Ilya Goldberg aka Lapa (2), Felix Kallin aka Foxtail (3), Tore Kofod & Johannes Hedberg aka 57º North (4), Julie Schønherr Rosengreen aka AYO (5) and Robin Saville & Antony Ryan aka ISAN (6).

About Echoes Of Dust
Starting the year off on a choice note, the first minted Rust Music release for the year of 2026 arrives as Echoes of Dust, a collaborative EP between Denver-based EOS and Minneapolis-based Wicker’s Portal. Built on a shared love of detailed sound design, deep low end, and melodic interplay, the project came together through a careful and deliberate exchange of ideas. The result is a record that feels fluid and alive, balancing atmospheric space with moments of forward motion and intensity.
Cracking into the first pulsating minutes of Echoes of Dust puts the scintilla of sound at full volume, with a clear show out of the synthesis on display throughout the entire record. It’s immediately dynamic, stretching from subtly tuned sub weight to the clear syncopation of call-and-response songwriting. It was envisioned to give space to ambient textures and intense frequency warping in the same breath, choosing neither the entirely frenetic nor particularly tame paths in each song's arrangement, but instead combining those sensibilities in an altogether different kind of listening experience.
Broken beat rhythms meandering between drum and bass, downtempo, and IDM grooves keep the pace refreshing and engaging, bringing the macro listening experience across five unique tracks to a series of emotional highs and explorative lows. Judged against the contemporary backdrop, Echoes of Dust is inarguably standout, demonstrating a matured compositional approach to the often high-brow dynamics of niche electronic music in this form.
