The Rust Music - RUST100

About RUST100

At the height of 2017, The Rust Music took on its second, present life as a music label, publication, and event promotion company. With little more than gumption and a vision, nearly 9 years of dedication turned into the extraordinary honor of hosting 99 EPs and LPs from a global variety of producers, musicians, and creatives. Now, just shy of our 9 year anniversary, we're ecstatic to unveil our 100th label release: RUST100, compiled in celebration of this milestone.

At 45 tracks, this compilation represents a plurality of our close friends, family, associates, and contemporaries that have thrown their weight in with our operation at some point through the last decade. Stretching from downtempo and trip-hop motifs to modern bass music, garage, and beyond, every composition feels like another cornerstone in the foundation of The Rust’s overall palette. The cast of characters we had the privilege to tap for this compilation is nothing short of a dream team, featuring the likes of Chalky and Seppa, Primate, Easyjack, Zonra, parkbreezy, and another 40 or so members of our extended universe of sound.

Whether you're just tuning into The Rust Music for the first time, or you've been with us since our nascent days on Brooklyn rooftops, RUST100 is the next definitive source for our collective grooves and hues in electronic music, and we can't wait for you to dive in.

Faelow - Lumivora

Artwork by Faelow / Tobin Armstrong

‘Lumivora’ Is out now

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Faelow since the premiere of his debut Floating Underground EP, and in the five years since then, he’s shown remarkable artistic growth and vision. Having stayed the course of downtempo, scintillating electronic music throughout that time, there’s a certain polish that’s evident in both sound design and composition across his maturing catalog. To that end, The Rust is incredibly excited to host the first full length Faelow LP, Lumivora, as our 91st release.

In the wake of his widely lauded ambient set at The Rendezvous in 2024, Faelow had the ingredients for this album already in the works. Pushing these arrangements over the compositional finish line, he’s turned out 8 tracks with meandering and tempered gaits. Favoring detailed soundscapes over high-energy rollers, this release is populated with aqueous instrumentation and reverberant, subsurface percussion. Dialed in for both the stage and the home, Lumivora is a stand-out release that sets a bar standard for 2025’s potential additions in the landscape of melodically-rich electronic productions.

Faelow’s work has always been about creating spaces that embody feelings. Faelow’s fascination with spaces started at a young age, with a focus on painting surreal landscapes. The ethereal calmness evoked by environments filled with teal pigments gave way to his moniker, a phonetic spelling of the blue-green pigment phthalo. After turning to audio as his primary means of exploration, Faelow’s work has focused on creating immersive stereo images that paint a world in the listeners imagination, populated by an ecosystem of auditory entities.
