At the height of 2017, The Rust Music took on its second, present life as a music label, publication, and event promotion company. With little more than gumption and a vision, nearly 9 years of dedication turned into the extraordinary honor of hosting 99 EPs and LPs from a global variety of producers, musicians, and creatives. Now, just shy of our 9 year anniversary, we're ecstatic to unveil our 100th label release: RUST100, compiled in celebration of this milestone.

At 45 tracks, this compilation represents a plurality of our close friends, family, associates, and contemporaries that have thrown their weight in with our operation at some point through the last decade. Stretching from downtempo and trip-hop motifs to modern bass music, garage, and beyond, every composition feels like another cornerstone in the foundation of The Rust’s overall palette. The cast of characters we had the privilege to tap for this compilation is nothing short of a dream team, featuring the likes of Chalky and Seppa, Primate, Easyjack, Zonra, parkbreezy, and another 40 or so members of our extended universe of sound. 

Whether you're just tuning into The Rust Music for the first time, or you've been with us since our nascent days on Brooklyn rooftops, RUST100 is the next definitive source for our collective grooves and hues in electronic music, and we can't wait for you to dive in.

Lucid Living is a vibrant and immersive journey through psychedelic bass and downtempo. In contrast to Entangled Mind's debut album, Eternal Motion (2021), a more introspective and melancholic work, this latest offering explores new territory with confidence, finding the joy in moving through a dynamic experience of intricacies and peculiarities. 

At the heart of Lucid Living lies a harmonious fusion of organic instrumentation and top-notch electronic production and sound design, as well as a notable emphasis on collaboration. Entangled Mind themself plays guitar, synths, handpan, bass, djembe, and shakers, as well as plentiful field recordings, making for a very personal soundscape. Further pushing possibilities through synergy with collaborators, and tapping in on additional musicians for features, each song is thoughtfully composed and differentiates itself from the last, while still flowing together as a fulfilling and cohesive experience. 

Embracing entropy and a limitless nature, the album serves as a testament to the boundless creativity and expressive potential, and embodies what it means to live more lucidly in this ever-evolving world that we’re all entangled in.

Metta & Entangled Mind - Friendz

Art: DayDreemer Visions

Coming in hot with a double sided rhythmic saunter, Metta and Entangled Mind mingle their sonic musings on the Friendz EP. The two tracks "Friendz" and "Calm Before The Storm" dance with individual gaits and mutual palettes, bringing a honed in collection of textures, tones, and movements to their zenith. The suite of sharp percussive samples and audio slices bounces particulate effects between crisp transients, and each successive bar and phrase rolls into shuffles, turnarounds, and juggled rhythms. Warped, buoyant synthesis wraps both polar ends of the frequency spectrum with warm note relationships and sapient melodies, mediating a velvet vibe across the EP. If silk-laden dives into texture and harmony is your flavor of choice, you'll be hard pressed to find the fault lines in the Friendz EP.
